UPACS-Universal Physical Aisle Containment System:

DCE’s Universal Physical Aisle Containment System is our most flexible solution; effectively free standing, thereby allowing cable support structure systems to be easily mounted on top. It is the ideal bespoke solution for your Cold Aisle Containment needs, focusing on improving cooling efficiency, reducing energy consumption and enhancing overall data centre performance, which ensures the ideal separation of the cold air supply from the hot exhaust air, thereby giving the added benefit of higher return air temperatures, improved cooling capacity, which unlocks the potential for increased rack densities.

Key Features

  • Aluminium System Frames with steel infill panels positioned at the end of each row
  • UPACS aluminium profiles sit on the top of the racks and connect the two end frames together
  • UPACS aluminium profiles are the roof extension bars that the polycarbonate roof panels sit on
  • Effectively freestanding, thereby allowing any size rack underneath the UPACS, with racks installed and removed without affecting the cold aisle.
  • Varying width cold aisles – 1200mm and 1800mm.
  • Synchronised and self-closing doors.

Standard Series Cold Aisle:

DCE’s Standard Cold Aisle containment solution provides a robust and efficient method of separating cold supply air from hot exhaust air within the data hall. Designed for consistency, structural integrity, and ease of installation, this configuration is ideally suited to environments where rack layouts are uniform and standardised

Key Features

  • Steel Pelmets Above Racks
Steel pelmets are installed above the racks to create a continuous barrier between the rack tops and the containment roof. This prevents cold air leakage and ensures effective airflow separation while providing a durable, long-term solution.

An 80mm high pelmet above the rack allows for cameras and smoke detectors to be fitted inside the aisle on the Roof Extension Bars, preventing them from obstructing the rack doors when they open.

  • End-of-Row Rack Door Support
The two end-of-row racks are used to support the cold aisle door track, removing the need for additional freestanding structures and allowing for a clean, integrated installation
  • Uniform End-of-Row Rack Requirement
To ensure correct alignment and structural stability, all four end-of-row racks must be the same height and type. This guarantees consistent load distribution and correct door operation.
  • Steel Roof Extension Bars
Steel roof extension bars span across the cold aisle, providing secure support for the polycarbonate roof panels. This creates a fully enclosed cold aisle while maintaining visibility, light transmission, and ease of inspection.

Designed for Efficiency and Reliability

This standard configuration delivers a cost-effective, repeatable containment solution that supports efficient cooling, predictable installation, and long-term operational reliability. It is particularly well suited to new installations or environments where rack uniformity can be guaranteed. Otherwise, please consider our UPACS system for a more bespoke solution should this be required.

Blanking Panels:

Effective airflow management is critical to maintaining cooling efficiency within a data centre. DCE offers a comprehensive range of blanking panel solutions designed to prevent air recirculation, eliminate bypass airflow, and support efficient cold aisle containment strategies.

Our blanking panels are engineered to integrate seamlessly with a wide variety of rack layouts and containment configurations, ensuring optimal thermal performance while maintaining a clean, professional finish across the data hall

Key Features

  • Flexible Configuration Options
Blanking panels can be configured in-row or above rack level, allowing them to be deployed wherever airflow gaps exist within the containment environment.

  • Choice of Materials
Panels are manufactured from either steel or twinwall polycarbonate, providing options to suit both structural requirements and visibility preferences.

  • Durable Steel Finish
Steel panels are powder-coated for a robust, long-lasting finish in standard RAL 7035 grey, with optional colours available to match customer branding or existing data centre aesthetics.

  • Improved Cooling Efficiency
By sealing unused rack space and containment gaps, DCE blanking panels help ensure that conditioned air is delivered directly to server intakes, reducing energy waste and improving overall cooling effectiveness.

Copper & Fibre Cable Support Infrastructure:

We supply a system that allows cable support infrastructure, such as cable basket and fibre ducting to be mounted directly on top of the UPACS.

Benefits

UPACS can be retrofitted over existing racks, and the cable support infrastructure mounted directly on top, negating the need to remove the ceiling to install drop rods to provide the support.  It is fast to deploy and much cleaner to install in an operational data centre, particularly in rooms where ceiling tiles are present.

Rooms with low floor to ceiling heights benefit due to the compact nature of the cable support infrastructure.

Cable support infrastructure is designed to de-risk future expansion, for example using crosses in the Fiber Runner with ends capped off to allow easy and fast expansion in multiple directions, should it be required.

Without this, the Fiber Runner will need to be modified to add on to it, which is risky when live fibres are installed.

Doors

Cold Aisle Containment Doors, choice of single or double, that are designed to be used with either DCE’s Standard or UPACS systems, in conjunction with 1200mm or 1800mm aisles. Manufactured in steel. Powder coated for extra protection, usually in RAL7035 grey, optional colours available.

Key Features

  • Synchronised opening and closing of both doors
  • Large Polycarbonate Door Window for maximum light transmission
  • Clear Polycarbonate roof panels for maximum light transmission
  • Thumb Lock inside doors for safety – No key required to exit locked doors
  • Euro Profile Locks, keyed alike per pod, or per facility
  • Brush strips to create seal • No bolts or fixings visible on external door
  • Lightweight-both synchronised doors can be opened with one hand
  • Holdbacks, so both doors can be opened with one hand
  • Smooth operation for both opening and closing
  • Damped soft closing so doors do not slam

Inrow Storage:

DCE’s In-Row Storage solutions provide a secure and practical method of incorporating storage directly within the rack line, without compromising structural integrity or data hall layout. Designed for use within contained environments, in-row storage offers a space-efficient alternative to freestanding cabinets or ad-hoc storage areas.

Key Features

  • Highly Secure and Load-Bearing Design
The in-row storage units are engineered to be structurally robust and load bearing, ensuring they can safely support stored equipment, spares, or tools within the rack row environment.

  • Steel Infill Panel Construction
Constructed using steel infill panels, the storage solution delivers strength, durability, and a professional finish that aligns with standard data centre infrastructure.

  • High Load Capacity
Each in-row storage unit is capable of supporting up to 200kg, making it suitable for heavier components such as server spares, power equipment, or installation materials

Designed for Operational Efficiency

By integrating storage directly into the rack row, DCE’s in-row storage helps to:

  • Reduce clutter within the data hall
  • Keep critical spares close to the point of use
  • Maintain clear access routes and compliance
  • Preserve the clean aesthetics of the containment system

This solution is ideal for data centres seeking secure, space-efficient storage that complements their cold aisle containment strategy
